an alternative treatment to filler with Dr Wassim Taktouk
I’d been thinking about having Profhilo for a while, so when Teresa Tarmey told me she has a new resident aesthetician, I knew I had to take the leap. Dr Wassim Taktouk specialises in administering Profhilo, and immediately I felt like I was in safe hands.
For those of you who may not know what Profhilo is, Dr Wassim explains that it’s a series of injections that contain a high level of Hyaluronic Acid. As we get older, the natural Hyaluronic Acid levels in our skin tends to decrease, which causes our skin to lose its plumpness. The reason for injecting Hyaluronic Acid, instead of administering it in a cream or serum, is so that a higher quantity (64mg) reaches the dermis of our skin. Once injected, it acts like a sponge and absorbs water to expand like spaghetti, making the skin look younger and more plump.
This is different to filler injections I’ve had before, which stay in the same place one injected.
After putting on some numbing cream, Dr Wassim made 10 injections on my face. I have a high pain threshold, but if needles worry you, you’d feel a small scratching sensation at most. After the injection, you can see that I get a slight bump on my skin which will go down when the Hyaluronic Acid starts to dissipate.
The Profhilo treatment was incredibly quick, and I was in no pain whatsoever. I also had my neck and right hand injected. This way, I can compare it to my left hand and find out whether I can see significant results.
My second treatment with Dr Wassim was exactly the same as the first. He used numbing cream and injected the Hyaluronic Acid into the same places. I could definitely see a difference between the skin on my hands, so this time Dr Wassim injected my left hand. My skin feels plumper and more radiant, and I would definitely recommend Profhilo.
The results are supposed to last for 6 months, so I’ll keep you updated ladies…
If you'd like to visit Dr Wassim, he is based at Teresa Tarmey's Clinic, 6-7 Motcomb St, Belgravia, London SW1X 8JU.
